Are you a fan of sitcoms and zany sci-fi shows? Now you can play one in OUT IN THE BLACK: A Sci-Fi Sitcom RPG, where epic fails that make you laugh are always rewarded.

XENOZINE Issue One: The Centauri Sabotage is a sci-fi murdery mystery set aboard a doomed space vessel. The killer could be anyone.. EVEN YOU!
Produced as part of Zinequest 2 on Kickstarter, this zine also includes tips on creating your own one shot murder mystery or for incluson in existing campaigns.
The Centauri Sabotage contains a standalone adventure that can be played in a single session. It is a sci-fi murder mystery with specific game mechanics to help the plot along. This is the first issue in a series of sci-fi zines dedicated to one shots and supplemental game material.

A MURDER MYSTERY YOU SAY?

This adventure is a sci-fi murder mystery set aboard a doomed space vessel. Murder is afoot and the killer could be anyone, EVEN YOU. Not even the Gamemaster will know who the killer is, until much later.

Imagine you awaken from suspended animation on a starship orbiting a planet.. And that orbit is decaying.. And you're not sure if you can trust the other crew members.. or if you can take down that android in a fair fight. Can you make it to the weapons locker without him detecting you? Wait.. you have a weapon in your cabin.. but.. you don't remember.. how it got there..

Players begin with handouts explaining things no one else knows about them. These imply motives. Every good suspect is bound to have some skeletons in their closet. These secrets can be discovered over the course of play by the other players. This might shed more suspicion on the character in question, but could also be a red herring.

Eventually something will trigger the revelation of who the killer is, either by revealing clues or by the actual killer suddenly regaining their full memory of events. This will be explained in detail within the book. The killer will be given a special handout in secret. If the killer's identity has not been revealed to the others.. Things are about to get interesting.

ZOTH-LACED

WORM TAILS

"The Almasaiyin, the nomadic tribes known as the Forgotten People, wander the western deserts of Cha'alt. Their elders once spoke of a time when their ancient ancestors worshipped a foul god, a ravager of worlds. They told the legends of Aza'ak-Khat, the Living Temple and the Beast Within the Walls. The younger generations often dismissed these tales. It was now too late to heed the warnings as many perished, staring mouths agape, as the great citadel descended from the fuchsia sky to rain death upon them."

Did you ever want to run a mashup inspired by Dune, Krull, Cthulhu stories, a slew of cheesy, post-apocalyptic movies and classic fantasy RPGs? Well, that's one part of this zine. The rest of it contains Cha'alt-inspired material and other content that can be converted to most systems.

XENOZINE Issue Two:

ENEMY WITHIN

LOCATION: DEEP SPACE. THE PLANETOID HAPHAESTUS.

Lancer Corporation mining personnel from Outpost 4 are performing routine ops for the extraction and refinement of ore and gases. Gouger 1, the primary excavation rig, encounters something strange. Sensor readings detect an anomalous mass just as the central drill breaks through a cavity in the 200-meter range.

Alex Petrovich, Chief Operator:

“Walt! WALT!! ALL of you.. come down here! We hit.. something. I don’t know what it can be. It looks.. man-made. I think it is.. made of metal? But it is like like no metal I have ever seen.”

Included WITHIN:

  • A complete one shot adventure that can be replayed with different endings
  • A sci-fi/horror themed game using a science fiction conversion of the Fifth Edition of the popular fantasy RPG

OUT IN THE BLACK HACK

is a science fiction sitcom (situation comedy) roleplaying game. It uses a modifed, old school, d20 based system with unique mechanics added to boost comedic aspects. It favors short, episodic play with hilarious outcomes. It's inspired by many sci-fi movies, television shows and comedy classics, including Red Dwarf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Lost in Space, just to name a few.

Characters start out on a space vessel devoid of most of its crew due to some catastrophic event the GM chooses or determines from a table. There are also tables to determine everything, including ship's AI appearance and personality, character backgrounds and professions, and random story encounters. Each game session should play out like a television episode based on the zany tropes many of us grew up watching. Discovering who clogged the only working toilet stall and fixing it will be just as important as the Creature of the Week who just dropped by (to have you) for dinner.
Players are also rewarded for epic fails and hilarious moments more often than victories over foes.

The Haunting of Blye Street

(A Pay What You Want title)

A low-level horror exploration adventure for the world's greatest RPG!

For years, Blye Street, in the hamlet of Harvel’s Joust has attracted visitors from far and wide. It had a reputation for being the best shopping experience that the province had to offer: fine clothing, dear perfumes, children’s toys, books, delicacies from all over the world, quality arms and armor, and even items of magical nature could be found here - for the right price.

On a cold autumn night three years ago, a thick torrent of smoke sprouted from Blye Street. The fire razed like the flames were fanned by the devil himself, engulfing the street and the neighboring houses in an inferno. After the fire brigade had managed to douse the final fires, not much was left standing.

Over two dozen people were believed to have died in that fire, but only two bodies were ever recovered. Although the townsfolk believe that the fire was started intentionally, no culprit was ever arrested. In the aftermath, Blye Street was sealed off from the public. With its main attraction torched and its wealthiest entrepreneurs either dead or destitute, most townsfolk abandoned the Harvel’s Joust. Only a handful of inhabitants remain, and all know to stay away from Blye Street. Those that left, however, started a rumor that leaped through the inns, taverns, and alehouses of the country like an ember in a hayshed. According to those that have left, one night every year, the Night of the Inferno, Blye Street rises from its ashes.

The party returns to Blye Street on this night to find answers. Who started the fire? And Why? And what is causing the once-lauded shopping street to rise from its ashes like a phoenix?

Happy Halloween!

Also included: The Reshoot Principle, expanded rules for the Cha'alt Confessional. Break the Fourth Wall like never before with new ways of turning your RPG antics into must-see reality TV.

This was designed to resemble vintage comics and parodies things remembered fondly from the past, like ads for novelty gadgets that were never quite what they were advertised to be.
